In recent years Barakaldo has undergone – and indeed continues to undergo – changes on a scale unlike anything experienced elsewhere in the vicinity. People who have not visited us for some time probably retain the image of Barakaldo as a largely industrial town with an urban planning structure that encouraged visitors to pass on through.
But Barakaldo is no longer like that: today it has been transformed, and pedestrian streets and squares have been built where people can stroll, meet for a chat and enjoy frequent entertainment. A huge botanical garden has been set up in the town centre, and the streets are dotted with sculptures: even the Metro entrances are shaped like glass sea-shells. It has a busy theatre, sports facilities that exceed all expectations and Europe’s most modern exhibition centre. It has a multitude of shops and leisure amenities: in short, far more than you could imagine.
We hope that this web site, with its detailed information on cultural, gastronomic, commercial and leisure attractions, will help you get to know and enjoy the town.
WELCOME TO BARAKALDO.
